Hi,

The subject says it all. Is there a way to delete messages from history (in my account)?

No. And this is obvious but I will say it anyway - message history is only viewable by yourself and the contact you were chatting to (or the group in the case of 'group chat'). Don't want anyone panicking.

I strongly disagree! If these are my messages, than I should be able to read, write or delete. You, as server admins, are the third that can also access all histories stored. All messengers have an user and a password to protect personal information, but they don't rely on that. You shouldn't either. Again, I don't like not being able to delete my own history. It makes me feel like it's an official investigation, not a messenger!
Not to mention it is a waste of resource for the mainframe.
The idea is that there should be an opt.in option, not an opt.out. Instead, you are talking about not being able to opt-out. And we are taking about all time history!

I should have mentioned that we will soon begin deleting messages that are outside a certain time frame. No more specifics are available yet though. The kind of control you want will appear as we go from beta to release versions of the app.

Thank you.
I think a "clear all" button won't be a problem in such cases.

I think its important to let the users delete their own history. You say the messages are private and only viewable by yourself but what if you lost your device (i.e. iphone) or you simply leave somewhere and a colleague or friend opens it and looks at some private chat. Should we then have our iphones locked? is it the only way? Other apps that manage confidential info have the option to define a code to enter, could be an option.

Thanks

We are going to be working on the message history options soon, and should see options to be able to delete your own history. However we have not time frame on this yet.

I strongly agree with the need to delete history. I have just loaded palringo - and use it ONLY to chat to a msn messenger. This is therefore not palringo to palringo and my message history is still on my iphone when I return to the app. I would simply like to delete it for security purposes. It cant be a difficult thing to impliment - otherwise I cant trust my device being used by somebody else as they have the opportunity to view my message history.

S60 app does not store messages on the phone. When you request history it's downloaded from the server. I can only suggest to type in your password every time to log in so if you loose the phone one whould not be able to login to palringo to check history.

You could always change your password in the event that your device was lost/stolen.

You could always hide your device so that your wife doesn't look through your history ;)

ADMIN: The option to delete history is OBVIOUSLY a desire from users, regardless of any justification by you that it's "not needed". This has been a long standing complaint and seems there'd be an easy solution. Please just give the ability and problem solved. No reason this should still be an issue. You will continue to lose users. Thx.

We are going to be working on a delete option for users soon, but we have no timeframe at the moment. It is something we have wanted to include for awhile.
