My Samsung Instict Wont Connect. Is The Username The ID Number?

I have a Samsung Instict with a Macbook Pro I joined by and when i enter my username and password on my phone it wont connect. I've tried logging in for username with my e-mail, the Unique name and ID number and am at a lost, Any ideas?

Your username is an e-mail address. Is there an error message when you try to connect?
