Can't connect? Try this...

BB users who can't get Palringo to connect should try the following:

Firstly, update Palringo to version 0.79 or above. Check the version number in 'Menu->Help->About..' and then point the phone's web browser at palringo.mobi to download and install the latest version.

If the update doesn't solve this they you may need to change your Blackberry's TCP settings. Find these here - Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP

As for what to enter. This depends on your network operator and the Opera (web browser) site does a good job of listing the correct settings for each network;

http://www.operamini.com/help/connect/

If your network isn't listed try our Forum or a search of the internet should get you what you're after.

[UPDATE]

As of version 0.83 this will no longer be necessary for the vast majority of users - your SIM needs to be BIS-B enabled (BlackBerry Services).

WiFi support is avaialble from v1.01.

Hey Sam,

I have a BB 9000 (Bold). It was working when I was in Venezuela, but now I'm in Uruguay, Palringo doesn't work, however every other application network dependant is working perfectly.

What do you suggest? Don't you think changing these TCP setting would alter and probably screw my normal application's connections?

For the record... I tried this solution and couldn't get logged in. I tried by setting up the different apn that work here in Uruguay with Movistar:

apnumt.movistar.com.uy
webapn.movistar.com.uy

Neither of them worked out

Hey Sam, a little help won't hurt on this! Tongue out

Seriously, do you have any ideas what could any BB user do? I really would like my Wife's BB to have Palringo, it would save me a lot of $$$.

Mine works pretty fine on my HTC Touch Diamond but... need BB support.

We are working on a number of enhancements to the way Palringo connects on the Blackberry as this is quite a tricky platform to do this on reliably. It sounds like you have tried everything I can suggest at this time.

Don't despair though as we will be releasing a number of updates between now and the end of March and hopefully you will see a marked improvement with each.

Well, I didn't have to make any special changes to connection settings when it worked for me in Venezuela. I was using Digitel's connection and it worked without problems and without any special settings (except by setting APN for the connection).

I was able to connect on my Blackberry Bold using version 0.79 using WiFi.  As of version 0.83, I can no longer connect!!!

Please provide version 0.79 of Palringo, it was working fine for me.  The only reason I upgraded to 0.83 was that my phone prompted me yesterday to download the latest version, and thinking that it would not break my connectivity, I did.  Now I can't find Palringo 0.79 anywhere.  Please help.  If you are taking away my phones ability to use WiFi, let me know and I'll delete my account and try a different software that does what I want.

Thanks.

We are looking at adding WiFi support propperly at the moment.

Noooo why do i need BIS-B enabled SIM ??

Palringo is the best IM so far for me, great stability, easy on the battery, etc.

main reason why im using Palringo on my BB was to avoid the stupid BB Data Plan (BIS), that comes with the Operator, its way too expensive. and i dont really need push-mail, but i DO need a reliable handset to browse +chat on the go, and BB is the strongest handset out there (battery consumption speaking) and together with Palringo, it was a paradiso... sigh.. all good things must come to an end i guess.

please reconsider on putting the "your SIM needs to be BIS-B enabled (BlackBerry Services)" :(

Perhaps I didn't word this correctly - your SIM doesn't need to be BIS enabled but if it is you are unlikely to need to configure the TCP settings to get a connection.

Hey sam trying to get palringo on my wifes sprint bb 8330 but when we click on the icon it says uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.system.UnsupportedOperationException

Any Ideas on what to do? Tried doing the TCI suggestion but can't even get there for some reason.

For all Curve users, the current version of this program seems to connect flawlessly on many versions of BB on a few different providers. I've tested on 3 Curve series and Bold, and have found all 4 to be working brilliantly.

I have a Blackberry bold, I try to run Palringo 1.01 on it, but after enter the login credentials I keep on getting "connection lost message.
I tried changing the TCP settings to the correct APN I was using Palringo with on Nokia E50 & HTC PPC; but the result is the same.
