As we improve Palringo there is one thing that we can't help our users with. But you can! Many users find that a particular connection is blocked by their network operator while another works.

There are a lot of different network operators in a lot of different countries and I would like to invite you all to share the connection settings that work for you. If you can't find connection settings that work why not post a request and someone might be able to help.

I'll start this off with my settings.

Device:Nokia N95 8GB
Country: UK
Network: Vodafone (Contract)
Connection name: Vodafone Internet GPRS
Data bearer: Packet data
Access point name: Internet
User name: web
Password: web
Authentification: Normal

*UPDATE* There is quite a comprehensive list over at the Opera Mini website - http://www.opera.com/mini/help/connect/. Report any successes/failures here.

Carrier: ATT (Cingular)
Device: Blackjack II (Smartphone / WM6)

Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS
Highlight "ATT IMS" and press Menu - Delete.

Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS - MediaNet
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: wap.cingular
User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Auth Type: CHAP
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Leave IP address blank.

Click done, then go to Start - Settings - Connections - Proxy - ATT Wap
Connects from: The Internet
Connects to: WAP Network
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com:80
Type: HTTP
Leave Username and Password blank.

NOTE: If you have the PDA Unlimited plan, the ISP.CINGULAR setup should also work. I'll post that later...

For the Blackjack II using the PDA Unlimited plan, the following settings may be used:

(ISP APN - Provides direct access to the internet, no proxy, real assigned IP address)
Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS - MediaNet
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: isp.cingular
User name: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Auth Type: CHAP
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Leave IP address blank.

-OR-

(Same as the ISP APN, but compresses certain HTTP traffic for faster web browsing)
Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS - MediaNet
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: isp.cingular
User name: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Auth Type: CHAP
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Leave IP address blank.

NOTE: Your applications must be set to connect to "The Internet" and not "WAP Network" in order to use these settings.

ADMIN: I'm assuming that this is in USA.

I usually use proxy settings above to browse internet, for some strange reason it doesn't work without proxy settings. If I remove proxy I can use palringo but if I use proxy I cannot use palringo! (Very Very Strange)

Try this... When you go to settings, connections... click on MENU: ADVANCED... Make sure you have your settings there for Internet Connection to the proper connections set there. Then go to MENU: OPTIONS and make sure you have MY DESKTOP CONNECTS TO : THE INTERNET. Good Luck!!

I just found this info and did it on my phone and was finally able to connect. I was getting the same "connection lost/reestablishing" thing until I did this for my carrier. Hope this info helps everyone.

I was just able to finally get a TMO BlackBerry 8100 to connect after using the "wap.voicestream.com" setting.

Hi,

I have tried the Bouygues Telecom "web&mail" settings in France, on an N95.

The connection requires a proxy server for https, and thus does not work with Palringo. Other applications "browsing, google maps, opera mini, nokia maps ..." work fine.

The connection goes through the mmsbouygtel.com APN, with the proxy 62.201.129.225:8080.

SFR (on Vodafone Live! conneciton, with an "Illimythics" forfait) and Orange France (any data option using "Orange World") work fine: Orange does not go through a proxy, and the Vodafone Live! connection by SFR is fine, even though it uses a proxy (it probably can do without).

How do you change the connection settings on a Blackberry Curve so I can use the Tmobile internet to connect Google Maps and stuff? When I install and open Google Maps, it says I need a data plan (Blackberry internet plan).

Using a Cingular 3125 unlocked and flashed with custom wm6.1 ROM by Erofich. This is problem maybe on other Windows Mobile devices. Normal settings for T-Mobile from the Network Wizard creates something like this under connections:
GRPS:
T-Mobile Data
Connects to: T-Mobile Data
APN: wap.voicestream.com

Proxy:
HTTP
Connects from: T-Mobile Data
Connects to: The Internet
Host: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
This will work if you also setup Proxy in Palringo as above, but you will need to open IE first to start your data connection! My theory is by default applications will "dial" whatever is setup for "The Internet." Lacking a GPRS "The Internet" only IE is smart to dial "T-Mobile Data" and use Proxy. My understanding is Native proxy support from the OS could be added to Palringo (nudge nudge wink wink). But my workaround:

Change your GPRS connection to connect to "The Internet." and then your Proxy connects from "The Internet" to "Work" and have IE use "Work" connection inside IE connections.... Not sure if this breaks Opera Mini, since I just did a hard reset and lack a j2me virtual machine in my phone.

Does this make sense?

But Palringo now dials correctly, which is problem otherwise if you have it auto-start, and IE works.
